Art Basel is one of the biggest events in South Florida and although this year’s art celebrations ended last week, there are still plenty of events going on during the winter season, including a major one that begins this weekend.  Here are two you may be interested in.

The annual Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade takes place up north in Fort Lauderdale near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.  More than a million people usually come out to watch all of the different boating vessels navigating the 12-mile stretch on the New River.  It’s the seventh largest one-day event in the country.  You can watch the parade and sip on a tasty cocktail this Saturday from the Grandstand Viewing Area starting at 7 pm.

Next month marks the debut of Art of Rum, an event by South Florida Distillers celebrating the synthesis of mixology and art.  There will be local mixologists on hand preparing fantastic cocktails based on the work of local artists for guests to try.  The festivities begin on January 30th from 7 pm to 11 pm and there will be music plus meet and greets and cocktail demonstrations.  Tickets for Art of Rum cost $25 or $75 for VIP access, which includes unlimited cocktail tastings.
